Old Sport: Puzzles for Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to everyone out there, whether you’re celebrating yours or celebrating being one!

My father is a big sports fan. Doesn’t matter what sport it is, he’ll watch it. Little League World Series? He’s watching it. Golf? He’s watching it. He’ll watch the FIFA World Cup even though he doesn’t even really like soccer. I’m sure if my favorite sport, Quidditch, made it onto the TV screen, he’d watch that too!

So, to celebrate my dad this Father’s Day, I’ve compiled some of our sports related puzzles. There’s tons for all your athletically-inclined lovers of the game!

Puzzles for Fitzgerald Aficionados

If you are anything like me, you can’t wait for Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby coming out this May, even though historically they have failed. The Great Gatsby has a double charm—it’s an American classic, but it’s also adored by the average reader. It’s going to be a challenge to turn the introspective book into a successful movie, but let’s keep our fingers crossed and our hopes up. Here are some puzzles that I think Fitzgerald might like to do during breaks from writing if he were alive today. Here’s hoping he’ll also like the new take on his novel.

Puzzle Warehouse sponsors Memorial Golf Classic in Honor of Katee Hessler

Puzzle Warehouse sponsored a hole at the 2012 Katee Hessler Memorial Golf Classic. The event was put on by a memorial foundation inspired after 18-year-old Katee was senselessly murdered in an attempted robbery in North St. Louis County onAugust 30, 2001.

Katee grew up in St. Charles and ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. She became a victim of violence and greed. Katee’s death deeply affected everyone who knew her. Take a look at all of the photos from the event over at the Katee Hessler Foundation’s Facebook page.
