Phil the Groundhog may have predicted another 6 weeks of winter for us Americans, but that’s not stopping us from looking forward to spring. With new puzzles of birds, we can hold you over until you see your flying friends returning from their jaunt south for the winter. From peacocks to owls to eagles (with everything in between), we’ve got your covered until you see those hummingbirds and bluejays back at your backyard bird feeders.

All puzzles are good to do with a friend, some are just easier! The new puzzles offered by PSI are round-table puzzles, or four-fronts puzzles. That just means when everyone sits around the table, they’re going to have a part of the puzzle that is facing them—not upside down, or at another weird angle—making them perfect for throwing a puzzle party or for having it out on Thanksgiving or during the holiday season! If you’re looking for a good family-based, easygoing activity, this is the perfect idea.

The second Sunday of September (the 8th this year) has been set aside as National Pet Memorial Day. There are many ways to honor and celebrate a pet that you have lost, such as dedicating time to an animal shelter or creating a memorial garden in your pet’s honor. We also think a great way to celebrate a pet is by creating a personalized puzzle—maybe your favorite picture of him or her, or the two of you together. It would be a lovely keepsake and you could either glue it and frame it in your home or redo it every year on Pet Memorial Day or your pet’s birthday.
13″ Round Custom Puzzle by Peaceful Wooden Puzzles, Various Piece Counts
I recently just saw an adorable post on the Internet of people posing with their animals as puppies and years later:
Of course there’s alway the option of finding a puzzle that already has an image that reminds you of your pet! We have cat puzzles, dog puzzles, and horse puzzles, among others.
I can’t be the only one that’s not-so-secretly in love with the Pomegranate Kids Series. At 300 pieces each, these puzzles are meant for ages 9 and up, but “up” definitely includes 21-years-old, right? (Or 30, or 45, or 68… and on and on and on)
The artwork on these puzzles is charming and interesting, and I think a lot of adults would enjoy them too! Plus, sometimes a lower piece count is a nice break from those higher piece count puzzles!
